An Inn steeped in local history . . .

Dating back to 1652, the Crown has seen many guises over the centuries. Originally a renowned hunting inn, it was the only hostelry for the local Lynford Estate. In later times, the rooms of the Crown have played host to local magistrates, with a court being held here every second Tuesday. The publican at the time had the onerous task of banishing the local vagabonds off the Village Green after these sessions.

Until fairly recently, the Old Court Restaurant, was used as a Doctors Waiting Room, where some people gained their first experience of the true charm of the Crown. It has also been said that due to poor door insulation, it was very common to actually hear the doctor diagnosis of the patient before you !

Of great note, in consideration of its location in the "flat" county of Norfolk, is the fact that the Crown is actually built into a hill, where you can equally walk in on ground floor level to the bars and the first floor restaurant, which will also help any disabled guests (please ask any of the staff to help you around).
